Brygger Bauers Grotter lies beneath Sankt Mathias Gade in Viborg and consists of a series of atmospheric grottos originally built by Hungarian brewmaster Peter Bauer in 1868. Restored after 100 years, the grottos now host private dining experiences for groups of 12–50 people.
The restaurant serves lunch tapas every Saturday and evening meals from Wednesday to Saturday, with flexible menu options: à la carte, tasting menus (3–6 courses), and seasonal tapas paired with carefully selected wines. The chefs use fresh, seasonal ingredients and create flavour experiences with a wow factor – including dry ice effects and surprising presentations.
Guests praise the venue for its unique blend of historical charm and modern gastronomy, offering a memorable underground dining experience. It’s an ideal setting for romantic dinners, celebrations, and corporate events – with the original wine cellar adding intimacy and character.
