The Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen has been located at Kongens Nytorv since 1748, when King Frederick V decided to complete the city with a theatre. Throughout its history, the theatre has hosted many renowned personalities, both Danish and international.
Today, the Royal Danish Theatre comprises six stages. These include the Old Stage in the main building at Kongens Nytorv, the Main Stage, the Small Stage, and the Middle Floor in the Playhouse, as well as the Opera House on Holmen, which houses both the Main Stage and the Takkelloftet.
